Cacti
There are more species of cacti in Big Bend National Park than any other park; having almost 65 different types. Some cacti are Hechtia Texenis, Dalea Formosa and Opuntia Engelmannii .
Chihuahuan Desert cacti are succulents. This allows them to store water beneath a thick fleshy layer of outer "skin". It has a waxy look as well. Once the pistil is pollinated the pistil grows to become a cactus fruit called "Tunas" and edible "Pitayas".
