Agave
The Agave is a low growing plant with succulent leaves that form a bowl shape. It is harvested frequently for its sugars that can be made into a sweetener known as "agave syrup." There are 11 total species of Agave in Texas with 3 in Big Bend National Park. They are Lechuguilla, Havardiana, and a Hybrid Agave. Lechuguilla is the indicator species of the Chihuahuan desert.
